Top Ten Books That I Read in 2014.

I have read over 100 books so far this year so to narrow it down to just ten is going to be tricky. Really I’m going to pick the first 10 amazing books that come to mind (Sorry!)phoenix holt

The Witches of the Glass Castle, Evanescent, How I Found You and Phoenix Holt by Gabriella Lepore.

All four are incredible reads, gripping from the first page until the last.  –  TWOGC sequel Uprising is released TODAY!!!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor.

This book, what can I say? Just…WOW. Karou is my perfect female character I completely devoured this book.cropped-fangirl.jpg

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell.

A book about a fangirl + a cute guy = perfect for the fangirl community! Rainbow Rowell was a real shining star of 2014 and I’m gutted that this was the only book of hers that I got around to reading. More Rainbow for me in 2015.

Love, Rosie (Where Rainbows End) by Cecelia Ahern.

This was my favourite contemporary chick-lit book of the year by far.

toptentuesdayTop Ten Books I Would Like To Reread.

I know that some people hate rereading books but I love it, I have favourite books which I reread often. There’s something so lovely about rereading a book which you enjoyed first time around, you see things which you didn’t notice before and fall in love with the characters even more.

The Time Traveller’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger This is my favourite book of all time and I haven’t reread it for a while so I am desperate to do so again sometime soon.

The Witches of Castle Glass by Gabriella Lepore With the second instalment coming out in December I really want to read this again and refresh the characters and story in my mind.

toptentuesdayTop Ten Books/Movies To Read Or Watch To Get In The Halloween Spirit

So scary/gory/paranormal/horror films are really not my cup of tea. I have a couple that I can cope with so they make my list but I know that they’re not particularly scary (which is why I watch them!) but they are honestly the best that I can personally recommend for Halloween. Sorry guys!

I’m going to split it, five movies and five books 🙂

Movies:

Hocus Pocus.

Halloween.

The Adams Family.

Beetlejuice.

Nightmare on Elm Street.

toptentuesdayFor this week’s Top Ten Tuesday it is time to pick places whether they be fictional or real that books have made me want to visit. I have picked five real places and 5 fictitious ones. I have also given a book which is set in each of the places 🙂

Ten Places Books Have Made Me Want To Visit

Real Places:

Chicago – so many of my favourite books are set in or have scenes in Chicago and it just sounds wonderful. The Windy City. I really want to go!   – The Time Traveller’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.

Sweden – There’s just something about its description in books that makes me think it would be a great place to visit.  – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.

North Carolina – I have read many books set in this area and it sounds amazing. So different to anywhere that I have ever been before, definitely different to where I live.   – True Believer by Nicholas Sparks.

New York – it’s one of those places on most people’s lists I imagine but it always sounds so magical and diverse I’d love to go and wander round.   – Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote.

Scotland – I have been to parts of Scotland before but I’d really like to visit the Highlands and the Isle of Skye, again it just sounds magical and beautiful. Although it’s in the UK it really could be a world away. – Burned (House of Night) by P.C and Kristin Cast.
